The name Sensata comes from the Latin word sensata, meaning "those gifted with sense". To complement our business and name, our logo is inspired by Braille, the writing system based on touch. Sensata Technologies Malaysia first started operations as part of Texas Instruments (TI) Malaysia in 1974 in Ulu Kelang, Kuala Lumpur. TI’s Sensors & Controls (S&C) division separated from TI in 2006, and S&C operations became part of the stand-alone Sensata Technologies business. We are now located in Subang Jaya Industrial Estate, 20 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. This site is a manufacturing plant for several products primarily supporting the worldwide automotive industry and has a long list of well known customers. The sensors we produce are used in cars as well as heavy vehicles for applications ranging from pressure sensing to force control.
